Where The Wild Things Are...

I blogged about the upcoming film release of one of my favorite books "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak a while back when I was shown some stills, I was very excited then and I'm even more excited now that a trailer has been released!!

Here are some stills from the trailer, it looks so amazing I can't wait!

I tried to embed the trailer from Youtube but it has been removed for the time being...follow THIS LINK though and you can stream a version via Quicktime...

Schmutzerland

We have a new designer in the store today: Schmutzerland!! Lauren Rubin is the lady behind the label and she makes these beautiful and intreaguing pendants...

They feature an array of interesting Victorian engravings and colourful illustrations all set in large brass settings and protected by magnifying clear domes then they are strung on antiqued brass chains for a vintage feel...I LOVE the feather and farewell ones, those colours are perfect! See and shop all Schmutzerland necklaces HERE!!

Also new in are some super cute new pieces from Custom Made and some fresh new earrings from Snappy Sausage too...

Tilt Shift Fun...

Hello and happy monday and all that! I hope everyone had a super weekend and all of you UK peeps had a nice mothers day :)

I was just clearing out my terribly overcrowded computer desktop and came across a file full of Tilt Shift effect photographs I had been playing about with on some rainy evening about a month ago. Lovely Jena over at Modish had posted a link to tiltshiftmaker.com and I had a go with a few of my own photos...Some of them work better than others but it's an intriguing effect making things appear as if they were in miniature. Pretty good!

Anyways, rather then keep them in a computer file I will probably never look in, here they are-->

The car ones are pics I took last year at the Silverstone leg of the Le Mans racing series which my l'il brother Joey was driving in...I just thought I'd mention this as at the moment he is racing in the Australian Formula 3 championship and this weekend had some amazing success with two pole positions and two wins, plus he broke the tracks fastest lap record. He's a bit good that boy and I am immensley proud!!

Uh oh....

I succumbed! I gave in! I signed up and now I am a twitterer...Yep, after a lot of resistance it got me. I can't say I'm hooked yet but if you would like to follow my intermittent updating then you can do so here: http://twitter.com/BonbiForest :)

Anyhoo, we have some new bits and pieces in the store again. This time from two new makers: Fresh jewellery from Stolen Thunder and a new super zine in the form of Shebang!

The Stolen Thunder jewellery has a natural feel with uniquely designed wooden charms, antiqued chains and colourful leather. A gorgeous collection full of Babushkas, feathers, hearts and symbols of freedom...My favorite piece is the Babushka Tassle, a length of soft deep purple plaited leather with a wooden Babushka charm that can be worn in a multiple of different ways as a bracelet, anklet, arm band, headband or necklace. Whichever takes your fancy!! See and shop all Stolen Thunder items HERE!

We also have issues one and two of the fantastic Shebang zine in stock too. 52 pale blue sides of music, art, travel, reviews and other fancy stuff and in issue two there is an interview with me all about Bonbi Forest! Bag yourself a copy HERE!

Skeleton Boy

I love a bit of geeky boys dancing! :)

ABC

I have made these little 8x8 canvasses for my friend's baby's nursery...

I was going to screen print them but ended up stenciling them which was a lot of fun to do and it was really nice to work with a different process for a change too. I'm really happy with how they came out, I'm definitely going to have to make some more mini canvasses at some point!!

Heads up

Hello, Just a quick heads up on a few fun and lovely things today...

If you haven't had the pleasure yet, I recommend a listen of Alela Diane's new album To Be Still. I am no music reviewer so I won't even attempt it but if you like Nina Nastasia, Cat Power etc its probably right up your street. He first album is pretty good too: The Pirates Gospel.

Also I just wanted to mention that the newest issue of NEET Magazine is out now...yay!

Last but certainly not least: If, like me you were kind of getting used to the drier weather the British Isles have been enjoying of late and are fed up with this miserable grey day already the have a play with THIS-->

A little bit ridiculous but very fun, it appears to be made up of Mr Oizo samples! There is nothing like creating your own crazy rhythms to lift the spirits...ha! From Ron Winter

Enjoy!
